Bereavement in the workplace
Presented by Gill Rowland - Monday 27 February 2023
About the Event
The construction industry is an unusual environment to work in.
Not only do we experience two suicides a day, but Covid hit many of us hard, we know there can be dangers - and the APS works hard to eliminate those potential threats, but what can we do if the unthinkable happens?
How do we access support for bereavement?
APS is keen to introduce the work of the charity CRUSE, and their efforts to the cause.
About CRUSE
Cruse Bereavement Support is here to make sure that everyone grieving gets the support they need, when and how they need it.
We want to live in a world where grief is understood and supported.
We equip, educate and empower society to make sure all bereaved people are treated with compassion and respect.
We are the UK’s leading bereavement charity.
We provide support in times of national crisis and work directly with the government and the NHS.
Cruse has been helping bereaved people for over 60 years.
We’ll do whatever it takes to support those who are grieving, from campaigning to providing individual support.
About the speaker
Gill Rowland - Cruse Bereavement Support

My background is in education, where I spent more than 30 years as a teacher, moving into school leadership for the second half of my career.
In 2015 I joined the world of Higher Education and worked training the next generation of teachers and school leaders.
I have been a Bereavement Volunteer with Cruse for just over a year and since retiring in August 2022 I have become a school Trustee and a Church Warden.
I enjoy reading crime fiction and also sing once a week with a group that is possibly more willing than able - but we enjoy the challenge!
I live in Kent and share my home with my husband and two cats.
