Becoming an individual member

As the leading body in its field we offer a comprehensive range of individual memberships for all those involved with or working in construction health and safety risk management.

 

Our membership structure is designed to achieve a number of crucial goals: 

  • To enable our members to assure to the industry that their skills, knowledge and experience remain relevant and credible;
  • To create an opportunity for our members to acquire additional skills and knowledge;
  • To offer a range of membership options to all Designers in the industry, at a level proportionate to their needs. 

It is important to stress that the higher levels of membership are not necessarily essential. We have created the structure to give you more options proportionate to your need to demonstrate relevant skills, knowledge and experience.

Associate (AaPS) £139 a year
Incorporated (IMaPS) £160 a year
Certified (CMaPS) £175 a year
Fellow (FMaPS) £190 a year
Retired  £40 a year

 

Student Membership

Student Membership is open to any full-time student of construction, construction design or construction health and safety. Membership is free.

Affiliated Member

Perfect if you are looking to keep up to date on construction health and safety risk management and do not need to demonstrate your competence as a practitioner.

Associate Membership (AaPS)

This category is open to all in the construction sector who are starting out, or wish to develop experience, within design or construction health and safety risk management.

Incorporated Membership (IMaPS)

The Incorporated Member category is ideal for qualified construction industry designers and others who deliver practical and effective design solutions that integrate health and safety design risk management. Applicants for Incorporated Membership are required to pass the CDM2015 online exam.

Certified Membership (CMaPS)

Certified Membership is aimed at design and construction health and safety risk management specialists who are experienced at delivering Principal Designer, Client Adviser or CDM Adviser services in a practical and effective way.

Fellowship of APS (FMaPS)

CMaPS who wish to become a Fellow undergo a rigorous peer assessment to demonstrate their knowledge and awareness of health and safety in construction and ability to act as an advocate for good practice.

Retired Membership

For existing APS Members who have ceased working, but wish to stay in touch with what is happening.
