Offshore guidance topics

These topic pages show how HSE tackles the wide spectrum of health and safety activity required by the offshore oil and gas industry.

The International Marine Contractors Association (IMCA)

IMCA publishes a range of guidance documents to help their members ensure safe and efficient operations. The expertise and experience of companies operating these advanced vessels in all the world's oceans, in its deepest waters and in the full range of conditions, is brought together in a comprehensive set of documents that is regularly reviewed and updated to reflect technological advances and operational achievements and address new, common issues.

If there's a problem

If you are worried about health and safety in your workplace, talk to your employer, supervisor or health and safety representative. If you are still dissatisfied, you should raise the matter directly with the offshore installation manager. If, after telling someone, you are still concerned, you can phone HSE’s Energy Division (01224 252500 between 8.30 and 17.00 Monday to Friday) and ask to speak to an inspector. You do not have to give your name.
