As a client CDM adviser, my role is to assist clients to comply with the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 (CDM), and all associated health and safety legislation, to ensure that they manage their arrangements and remain compliant throughout the lifecycle of their £multi-million works programmes and projects. CDM also says that the client has a statutory duty to engage with other duty holders and this is where they will often require that 3rd party support.
CDM says that if a client needs help in making these arrangements the principle designer (PD) should be in a position to help with this however, the client could also draw on the advice of a competent person in accordance with the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999 ('the Management Regulations'). The latter is why I have been appointed to support clients such as PHE / UKHSA, and Defra.
During this presentation I will be giving you an overview on how I have advised and supported my clients from business case; the procurement of projects; the appointment of CDM duty holders namely the principal designer and the principal contractor; the notification of a project to the HSE (when required); the handover of a project area; the pre-construction phase; the construction phase; project hand back (including project documentation); and the occupation of an asset if it is to be used as a workplace.
There will be time at the end of the presentation for a Q & A session!
