About the Event

The talk will provide the background to the ICE steelwork design note, and how industry organisations, such as APS, should be thinking of other such guidance, in all materials and management situations, to assist designers and protect contractors.

It will make reference to why the lessons of Grenfell apply to us all, and also to a method of dealing with risk that can be applied in real project circumstances- the missing link!

If you require a version with subtitles please contact tommy.boonham-payne@aps.org.uk

About the speaker

John Carpenter - FICE

John is a risk management specialist, the 2021 ICE Gold Medallist, and the author of ‘Designing a Safer Built Environment’.

He has had close involvement with APS in the past- on Council, CPD roadshow presenter, and conference presenter.

His prime emphasis is on the practical application of risk management to projects: something which has been lacking for the entire 26-year life of CDM.

Most recently he has been involved with the Grenfell Tower next of kin, in the publicising of the lessons, as they affect all projects, and in the development of competency requirements for those involved on HRBs.

John has spoken and published widely in the UK and internationally.
