Basic requirements for safe scaffolding
Whilst scaffolding and access generally forms an essential element of most construction and maintenance projects; it is often viewed as a ‘necessary evil’ and is not always given the priority and attention it deserves.
Effective communication between various parties is necessary to ensure that Temporary Works are built and removed effectively and safely.
Whilst this involves the selection of competent and well managed scaffolding and access providers, and the ongoing monitoring of onsite operations, this presentation aims to consider the basic requirements required for safe scaffolding. This includes:
- Competent workforce.
- Scaffolding construction and design.
- Safe systems of work.
- Systematic and effective scaffold inspection.
This is aimed to assist clients, principal contractors and project management teams to better understand how scaffolding and access should be provided and maintained
