Response from The Association for Project Safety (APS) to the Shadow Chancellor, Rachel Reeves’ speech at the Labour Party Conference on planning reforms aimed at speeding up the building of crucial infrastructure to revive the UK's "sluggish" economy.

The Association for Project Safety (APS) said Labour’s plans to invest in house building, industry, and energy - and to speed up planning and the investment in skills - would be good news for the UK’s construction sector but the association called for safety to remain central to every project.

APS President, Ray Bone said:

“Building rather than blocking development signals good news for the UK’s construction sector. Labour’s plans recognise Britain’s need for more homes, investment in infrastructure and a more effective planning process. But, regardless of which party forms the next government, more money and faster project delivery must never overshadow a focus on safety.”
