Join the APS Board: Two Exciting Opportunities

The Association for Project Safety (APS) is seeking to strengthen its Board through the appointment of an Independent Chair and a new post of Lay Director.

These are important governance roles that offer the opportunity to contribute to the strategic direction, leadership and long-term success of APS, while supporting the delivery of high standards of professional practice across the built environment sector through bringing external viewpoints, independent challenge and a focus on the public interest.

Independent Chair

APS is seeking applications for the position of Chair, an independent Non-Executive Director who will chair Board meetings. This is a unique opportunity for an experienced leader to play a key role in shaping the strategic direction and long-term success of the Association.

Working closely with the President, Chief Executive Officer and Board of Directors, the Chair will provide effective leadership, ensure robust governance, facilitate constructive challenge and support collective decision-making. The Chair will promote the highest standards of accountability, transparency and organisational effectiveness, ensuring that the Board acts in the best interests of APS and its membership.

As an independent appointment, applicants must not be current members of APS and should be able to bring an objective external perspective, sound judgement, strong leadership skills and a commitment to good governance.

Lay Director

APS is also seeking to appoint a Lay Director to bring external expertise, independent scrutiny and diverse perspectives to the work of the Board.

This non-member position offers an opportunity to contribute to strategic discussions and governance oversight, supporting effective decision-making and the continued development of the Association in service of the public interest. We welcome applications from individuals with experience in areas such as governance, law, finance, risk management, strategy, professional standards, academia, membership engagement, consumer advocacy or organisational development.

The successful candidate will possess strong strategic thinking and communication skills, demonstrate integrity and accountability, and be committed to upholding the public interest. As an independent appointment, applicants must not be current members of APS.

Make a Difference

Both positions offer the opportunity to help shape the future of APS by contributing independent expertise, constructive challenge and strategic insight to the Board. If you are passionate about reinforcing the public-interest duty, good governance and supporting organisational success, we would welcome your application.

If you are not a member of APS and have the skills, experience and commitment to help APS continue to grow and thrive, we would be delighted to hear from you.
