About the event
As the Building Safety Bill continues its way through Parliament, it is worth remembering that this Bill will be accompanied by a significant amount of secondary legislation and in parallel the Government will be introducing a number of new pieces of fire safety legislation. All of this will be accompanied by the new competence standards that are designed to drive upskilling of the construction industry. To what degree this will change the industry is uncertain, however the change will happen in the next few years.
Mark will layout the requirements of the Building Safety Bill as tabled, both in relation to higher-risk properties and to all construction projects; the Fire Safety Act; and the various competence standards and identify some of the risks and opportunities that will come with the new legislation.
This session will be repeated on eight different dates, please choose one that you are able to attend.
IMPORTANT
ALL sessions will look at the Building Safety Bill updates in England. However, the session on the 1st December will have an extra part to cover updates in Wales, and the session on the 2nd December will have an extra part to cover an overview of updates in Scotland.
Who should attend?
The webinar is open to all members and non-members and covers how the legislation will be applied in England. We will cover updates in Scotland and Wales in the final two webinars as noted above. Please note, there are no updates at present regarding Northern Ireland.
About our speaker
Mark Snelling
Mark Snelling is the Managing Director of Safetymark Consultancy Services, a health, safety and fire consultancy. Mark also chairs the APS’s regulation and policy committee working currently on the association’s response to the Building Safety Bill.
Mark has been closely involved in developing the construction sector’s pan-industry response to the Hackitt Review. He is an adviser to the Association of Residential Managing Agents [ARMA] working closely with the BSI on the development of the new building safety manager dutyholder role and description.
Mark is also a practicing CDM adviser working on major projects for a number of Build UK contractors.
