Design Risk Management, in relation to the implementation of the intentions of the CDM regulations, is currently a hugely misunderstood, diverse and varied process depending upon the type, size and complexity of the project and the experience of the project team. This causes a great amount of confusion amongst all members of the client, design and construction teams expecting to apply one “risk assessment” method to all projects. It has also become very clear that the method of facilitation of the process depends greatly upon the type of project eg. Civil engineering, architectural, general construction or surveying and the source discipline of the Principal Designer organisation that is the organisation in control of the “Pre-Construction Phase” of the project ie.
