Building Act 1984, the Building Regulations and the role of the PD (BR) (1 day)
The Building Safety Act has revised the regulatory environment in which building work must be undertaken. This course provides a detailed exploration of the new building control regime within which building work must be undertaken.
It looks at the new duty holder and competence requirements in the Building Regulations 2010 with a particular focus on what both clients and principal designers can do to comply with their duties.
It looks are the various routes to compliance including local authority building control applications, registered building control approver review, competent person schemes, exemptions and in the case of higher-risk buildings (18m+ and 7 Storeys+) the gateway process.
It explores the process of evidencing and demonstrating design and construction compliance as part of the building control application and completion certificate process.
It explains what is required to be competent under the new requirements, how you can verify that you are competent and can prove it to others.
