For Ely Bank Pentref Micro Community - a proposal for a high-tech eco village development. Health and safety considerations resulted in designs being altered to include more modern construction methods.

The Ely Bank Pentref Micro-community is a high-tech eco-village development in South Wales. The project consists of a common activity garden space and five micro-community clusters each formed of five housing units. The project aims to provide a safe, uplifting and stimulating environment and a clear and viable answer to the future in the face of global climate change while respecting the buildings historic context. These aims are reflected in all aspects of the building’s life-cycle including the materials, environmental design and safe methods of construction. The project fulfils the requirements of the CDM Regulations by ensuring the safe construction and the successful completion of the village. It aims to become a local landmark and to set new goals for development of communities across Wales, United Kingdom and Europe.
