This Stress Management course has been written primarily for those who currently have a management or supervisory position and, within that role, a responsibility for the wellbeing of staff within their business or team. All of us, however, has a responsibility within the Health and Safety at Work Act for the wellbeing of our colleagues, and indeed ourselves, and as such most of this course will be applicable to all employees.

It gives information on recognising stress, managing stress (including some tips for a lower-stress working life), how you can help others to manage pressure, returning to work, managing change and how to manage stress.

Stress is something that affects everyone on occasions. It is a natural reaction we all have to excessive pressure. Stress is not a disease, but can lead to illness if excessive and continues for some time.

Actively taking steps to manage the cause and the effects of stress in the workplace is a vital part of good people management and is a statutory duty of employers.
