APS is relieved to hear that there were no fatalities in the recent fire in Dagenham. The Association commends the London Fire Brigade for their prompt and effective response, which ensured a swift evacuation and undoubtedly saved lives.
This incident is a stark reminder that, despite the numerous regulations now in place, the safety of a building ultimately lies in the hands of its owners, and if construction work is taking place, on designers, and contractors. It is their responsibility to ensure that works are carried out safely and that the well-being of its occupants is paramount.
