Wales webinar - Drones-Safe Construction

Date: Wednesday 15 September 2021
This was an on-line event.
Topic: Regional CPD

Drone operators are becoming a vital part of any project team.

At Willmott Dixon drone operation is now an in-house function and, increasingly, a standard service on many projects. But this event won’t just be people droning but an opportunity for you to get an actual over-view of how drones can be safely used in construction.

Help make this event a soar-away success!

Join our Wales region to hear from expert operator Peter Wood of Willmott Dixon about the uses of drones and the things you need to bear in mind.

There will be an opportunity for questions.

About the event

The presentation will look at:

  • Certification, regulation, operation & competency covering what to look for when appointing a drone operator and the checks you need to undertake;
  • Technical specifications introducing types of drones, navigation systems, sensor options and additional accessories;
  • Balance of risk evaluating when the hazards of a drone operation – where location can be the main consideration - outweigh traditional inspection techniques [such as operating a MEWP for a roof inspection];
  • Outputs & information examining how drone-information is expanding and now includes photography, video, 3-D mapping, Lidar scanning, thermal imaging, multispectral scanning and more.; and
  • Reporting requirements & learning outcomes.

Case Study

There will also be an opportunity for delegates to learn first-hand how safe systems of work can mitigate risk when they hear about an incident when a drone collided with a building and crashed.
