National CPD - Retrofitting

Date: Tuesday 22 November 2022
This was an on-line event.
Topic: National CPD

About the event

Retrofitting is the addition of new technology and modern features to older or outdated systems. There are many reasons to include retrofitting in your projects, and it’s been used for largescale projects such as navy vessels, manufacturing plants etc. Retrofits can also be important to update buildings for changing codes or legal requirements.

Additionally, retrofitting is an important part of climate change mitigation and adaption to climate change – as many infrastructures were built prior to these changes. Retrofitting can increase efficiency of buildings, including maintaining structural health and integrity during extreme weather events. Finally, Retrofitting is part of the circular economy, reducing the requirements for newly manufactured goods, removing emissions, mitigating costs, and lowering environmental impact.

Join us for the national CPD programme and learn more about the following:

  • The background to Retrofitting including the legislation behind it, purposes etc
  • What retrofitting is? What are the benefits and why is it important?
  • What opportunities there are for (and with) retrofitting?
  • How different roles benefit, including Designers, Architects etc
  • Past projects and performance monitoring, what has worked, what needed improvement
