With the current increased scrutiny on designers competence and capability, Stewart look at what is required of Temporary Works Designers and Co-ordinators, and also what needs to be considered more widely for Principal Contractors and Principal Designers.

This event may be of particular interest to anyone working in, Construction, Design, those discharging CDM duties, Clients, Principal Contractors, Temporary Works Co-ordinators and Designers. Construction professionals with good knowledge of construction practice and terminology but little or no knowledge of temporary works.

Information about the speaker

Stewart Carolan-Evans has over 30 years of experience in the design and implementation of Temporary Works for heavy civil Engineering. Appointed as Chief Engineer for a tier 1 civil engineering contractor and more recently Head of Engineering Services at Richter he has been responsible for designing Temporary Works and devising construction methodologies for marine, railway (including Underground) and the water industry.

His expertise covers deep sheet piled excavations, piling, marine civil engineering, form and false work, scaffolding and access, tower Crane bases, structural alteration, supports for tracked Piling rigs, general geotechnical design and more. He provides training in temporary works coordination and familiarisation and is the Designated Individual for Richter. Stewart lectures in Temporary Works and Permissible Stress design at London City and Swansea Universities MSc courses for Temporary Works Design and Construction Methodology.
