The Association for Project Safety are proud to be supporting Safe Working At Height Week, which seeks to address construction's biggest killer: falls from height.

The campaign aims to highlight the key issues surrounding both current practice and future developments in safe working at height in construction.

The week started with a webinar on protecting construction workers from falls from height.

The webinar addressed the on-going challenge of working at height safely:

• Why is working at height is still such a key issue in construction?
• What are some of the chief risks are (lack of planning, ladders, scaffold towers, fragile roofs, etc)?
• What are organisations doing to make work at height safer (training initiatives, education campaigns, new technology, and new approaches to planning work, etc)?

The expert speakers were:

• Andrew Lack, HSW manager on Skanska’s 112m-high 20 Ropemaker Street project in London
• Jason Carlton, head of strategic engagement, PASMA
• Gediminas Salkauskas, senior health, safety and wellbeing manager, Sir Robert McAlpine
• Brian Parker, head of safety & technical, IPAF
