The Association is delighted to announce a Congress delivered in collaboration with the International Safety and Health Construction Coordinators Organization (ISHCCO). Our partnership aims to strengthen ties with ISHCCO and explore opportunities to share good practice on construction health and safety risk management and building safety with coordinators in the UK and mainland European businesses.

The Congress takes place on Friday 14 March 2025 at the Apex Grassmarket Hotel, Edinburgh

About ISHCCO

Established in response to the European Directive 92/57/EEC, ISHCCO is a non-profit association comprising national Safety and Health Construction Coordinators Associations across European countries. This directive also led to the creation of the CDM regulations in the UK, which in turn prompted the establishment of APS. ISHCCO’s primary objective is to protect the safety and health of all contributors to building projects. It plays a pivotal role in harmonising standards and training programs and issuing recommendations to improve the capabilities of coordinators for health and safety within the given national legal framework.

ISHCCO's Network and Influence

ISHCCO collaborates with various national associations, representing the interests of over 50,000 coordinators in at least 10 European countries. They work closely with organisations such as ENETOSH, ENSHPO, and OSH-Africa to promote sustainability in occupational safety and health.

Strengthening Our Partnership

APS has a longstanding relationship with ISHCCO, we were one of the founding members representing the UK. We have worked closely with them over the years and have previously hosted the General Assembly. We have taken the opportunity of organising a joint Congress with our colleagues the day after the 2025 ISHCCO General Assembly to create an opportunity to share learning about activities and processes that can support our shared aims of improving protection for workers by prevention through design and construction phase coordination.

Together with ISHCCO, we look forward to developing a safer and healthier construction industry throughout UK, Europe and beyond
