CDM 2015 Principal Designer Consolidation & Review – 1 day
CDM 2015 Principal Designer Refresher course
This course is designed as a refresher to 2 or 3 day courses for professionals working or intending to work as part of a Client or Principal Designer team on major projects.
It assumes a basic understanding of:
- Health and safety law in Great Britain today;
- CDM 2015 and how it fits into the wider construction health and safety picture;
- Building the project team: challenges and approaches;
- The overall duties and responsibilities of the 5 CDM duty holders and how these fit together;
- How to read L153 effectively;
- Information flow and management methods:
- Risk management approaches in construction sectors.
The course provides a refresh and review of the above topics, introducing new ideas and challenges and facilitating conversations with and by delegates.
The objective is to simplify and clarify how to be confidently compliant and add real value on projects.
The course continues with identification of key industry challenges and discussion of what changes need to be implemented by industry and regulators alike.
Delegates are encouraged to own opportunities for improvements for industry, for their sector, for their organisation and for themselves as professionals.
Wider industry initiatives are introduced where these add value to CDM Principal Designer role.
Review of CDM 2015 is touched upon and relationships with the BSA mentioned, especially in relation to competence and PD duties.
There is no end of course assessment but feedback is expected to allow us to make continuous improvements.
We should all be able to look back at our projects with satisfaction and pride in a job professionally delivered by a collaborative and creative team. We should enjoy the process and eagerly consider the next challenge.
