With the closing date to enter the APS National CDM and Student Awards.on Monday 4 June, you might think it would be too late start on your entry, let alone submit it on time.
Well... think again. Last year Mubashir Akhtar, Co-founder and Managing Director of Retrasafe Limited, didn’t find out the awards till 5pm on the closing date. But with just 7 hours left to go he started and got his submission in. Mubashir tells us how he did it…
Which award did you enter?
We applied for Health and Safety Innovation awards.
Why did you decide to enter the APS Awards at the last minute?
We only found out about the awards on the final day through a twitter post by APS. We had recently launched our innovative ladder safety device and this award would help get the product in front of the right audience of health and safety professionals and the construction industry. The awards ticked another important box for us - great networking opportunities, so we decided to enter the awards.
How did you manage to get your submission together?
We are fortunate to have a dedicated team at Retrasafe who worked until the late hours of the night to submit the entry event though one of our founders had a 9am exam the following day.
Do you have any tips for someone who is putting their award submission together with only a short time to go?
Call on everyone who can help you and just go for it as it is well worth it. Do it strategically by giving different parts of the submission to different people and have one person overlooking it all. Get someone to proof read it even if it’s last minute we did at 11pm - so you know everything looks good.
Anything else you’d like to say?
Good luck to everyone applying. I hope you enjoy it as much as we all did at Retrasafe.
