Office for National Statistics: construction sector fragile

10/11/2017 - 12:21PM

The Office for National Statistics (ONS) have published their statistics for the Construction Sector.

Our CEO, Lesley McLeod was available for comment:

Construction figures out from the Office for National Statistics show that the UK economy as a whole is fragile.  It is particularly worrying that, despite Grenfell and severe weather heralding the winter months, money spent on repairs and maintenance is down. The Association for Project Safety [APS] believes investing in design and construction health and safety risk management is money well spent as it improves the bottom line by taking care of the health and well-being of workers – the most valuable asset most businesses have. APS fully supports the government’s concentration on renewing the country’s infrastructure and hopes this commitment is reflected in the Chancellor’s upcoming budget.
