Letter from Lesley: your questions about Brexit answered

22/02/2019 - 12:50PM

Everywhere you turn in Edinburgh there seems to be another building project or major road works – just ask anyone who is trying to drive from one side of the city to another. And, from what I can see in other places, the Scottish capital is not unique. It gives you the impression that everything in the construction garden is rosy. But, on the other hand, all the financial and business news suggests the sector is under stress with marked certainty about future construction projects.

With only a month to go, no one can deny Brexit is part of the picture. This is not a political point – there’s quite enough of that elsewhere. The Association for Project Safety [APS] respects the views of all members - and every shade of opinion has a home under the APS umbrella. But you may well have questions about how the UK’s withdrawal from the European Union may affect you and your business. We will be updating our information pages as B-Day gets closer and keeping an eye on developments in the months to come. Your February e-zine – which should have popped in in your in-box this week (along with your first practice note of 2019) – has the latest and our legal expert, Gillian Birkby is on hand to answer your questions.
