Letter from Lesley: Ready for the challenges ahead

18/01/2019 - 03:43PM

I’ve been glued to this week’s momentous events in Westminster as the Brexit debate has reached fever pitch. I was actually in the capital for APS on Tuesday when Parliament Square and the areas around the Palace of Westminster were crowded with the world’s media and pundits vying for air time. And I was momentarily transported back to the night I was in the Press Gallery for the Maastricht vote which kept the UK in the European Union.

I know you will have every shade of view about the EU but I think we can all agree that it is going to bring challenges for the construction sector. So, looking ahead we are preparing a Brexit special for our March edition of Project Safety Matters. Please send in any of your questions about how you may be affected and we will try to get some answers.  You can also follow our updates pages (on the right of this one). We'll keep them updated with relevant advice and information from the regulator, the government and the sector as a whole.

In the meantime, we have the first of two e-bulletins going out on Monday – that should keep you going with construction news until February.

And our Spring CPD series is now open for booking (on the right of this page). We are going to be addressing all the key killers in the sector so we are starting with your opportunity to get to grips with the latest techniques in managing asbestos - always an oversubscribed subject - so get in there quick. And remember... It's inclusive so if you are a Associate, CMaPS, IMAPS or Fellow APS member there is no extra charge.
