Letter from Lesley: APS flagship event just one month away

02/08/2019 - 10:36AM

It’s Festival time again here in the Scottish Capital as the world’s largest arts event rolls into town. The Fringe gets underway this weekend and already the city is awash with visitors and performers – on my way to work this morning I saw a group of young women half-dressed, half-carrying the mechanism of a large puppet Highland Cow. Frankly, in Edinburgh and at this time of year, you get rather inured to that sort of thing. And, as they say, the show must go on.

And so it is with APS. Every year we plan, produce and stage the biggest event in our annual calendar.

As you will be aware we are heading to Sheffield on Wednesday 4 September for a day of stimulating and interesting platform speeches and lively discussion groups and panels.

Our morning will concentrate on the big picture stuff – the state of the industry; the forthcoming review of the CDM Regulations 2015; and major infrastructure projects. After lunch you will get a chance to choose the group sessions which most float your boat before re-joining the crowd in the main hall for our ever-popular panel discussion with guests from across the industry.   Read the programme...

APS will also be presenting awards to this year’s winners of the CDM and Student awards – you’ll be able to see an exhibition of the work of the winners and the shortlisted entries during the breaks when you are networking and catching up with colleagues.  Find out about the APS CDM and student awards...

And you still have time to put in your nomination for the of APS Member of the Year, a new award to recognise the outstanding contribution to design and construction health and safety risk management of an individual member. We’ve already got a front runner so, if you have someone in mind you had better get your suggestion in now. Find out about APS Member of the Year...

The conference is a major set piece for the staff here and they work exceptionally hard to make the day both fun and informative. Tickets are tax deductible and attendance qualifies for CPD points. Anyone coming along will also get a special conference discount on next year’s event which will be held in Guildford. So, what are you waiting for? If you haven’t signed up, BOOK NOW and get your ticket for the greatest show on earth.
