Excellence in safer & healthier construction celebrated

20/10/2017 - 12:27PM

Winners in the National CDM and Student Designer Awards… revealed!

A record number of entries to our 10th annual CDM and student designer awards, held in London last night, highlighted the increasing need to focus on ensuring the safety and health of workers in the construction sector.  Over 170 construction health and safety professionals met at Gibson Hall to celebrate excellence in design and construction health and safety risk management.  While the night was certainly a party, it was also cause for reflection, as the recent Grenfell tragedy has brought health and safety to the forefront as never before.

The APS National CDM and Student Designer Awards celebrate inspirational good practice in the construction health and safety sector and are a benchmark of excellence, aimed at highlighting how good design and health and safety practices can help reduce deaths, injury and ill-health, both physical and mental, so that construction workers can return home happily and healthily to their families each day.   In light of the Grenfell tragedy, the awards are a timely way to promote better design across the whole construction sector.

BBC News presenter Samantha Simmonds was a fantastic compere for the evening and presented each category winner with their esteemed prize.  The winners were as follows:
