Arch Henderson LLP, who provide specialist services in the design of marine environments, won 'Highly Commended in the Project of the Year category for their Holmsgarth North Development at the APS CDM and Student Awards in 2017. In the second of our series of Q and A interviews with previous award winners, we spoke with Andrew Sanderson, a partner with Arch Henderson LLP, who helped put thewinning submission together.
APS: Did you find the submission process relatively straightforward?
Andrew: The submission process was very straightforward with clear and simple instructions for entry.
APS: Were you surprised when you won?
Andrew: We knew we had a great project but surprised when we won highly commended mainly due to the calibre of the other projects.
APS: How has being an award winner helped you?
Andrew: It has given us good publicity but more importantly has reminded and focused us on early management of safety aspects of all our projects at conception stage right through to completion and maintenance.
APS: What tips would you give anyone applying this year?
Andrew: Don’t ever think that your project is not worthy of award compared to others as you could be pleasantly surprised.
APS: Is there anything else you would like to tell us about the awards
Andrew: The awards are a great way to meet other professional from different backgrounds that you may not normally meet and share experiences.
