Action required: HSE publication review

06/11/2017 - 11:18AM

Action required

APS is now closely involved with a number of CONIAC groups.  The Working Well Together Steering Group has advised that HSE is consulting on revisions to three key HSG publications addressing roof work, vehicles on construction sites and fire safety.  The deadlines we have been given are tight – particularly in relation to HSG168.

  • HSG 168 - ‘Fire safety in construction’ (deadline 27/11);
  • HSG 33 - ‘Health and safety in roof work’ (deadline 15/12); and
  • HSG 144 -‘The safe use of vehicles on construction sites’ (deadline 15/12).

The intention is to review and update each piece of guidance in two key ways,

  1.  Updating the guidance to reflect changes arising from the Construction, (Design and Management) Regulations 2015
  2.  Appropriately reflect changes in standards, practices and technology

This is your opportunity to use your expertise and experience to influence HSE guidance.  We’d like to collate any comments re what you consider is good about the existing guidance; what you think is less good and needs changing; whether there is material missing that you believe should be included; what other improvements might be made, etc. If you feel you have any photos or other pictures/diagrams that might help illustrate existing or new points and that you would be happy for us to use, then we would also be grateful to receive those.

Please could you provide your feedback directly to colin.seditas@aps.org.uk by no later than 27th November (Fire Safety in Construction) or 15th December (Roof Work and Construction Vehicles)? We realise these dates are tight but still hope that you will be able to provide a response to the consultation.
