About the National Student Design Awards

The APS National Student Designer Awards are intended to encourage continuous improvement in design and to recognise excellence in Design and Construction Risk Management within Design professions.  They also introduce students to the issues of Buildability, Maintainability and Usability,and their responsibilities as Designers in terms of Construction Health and Safety Risk Management.

The Brief

Students were asked to outline how their ongoing thought process over the development of their design project contributed to the elimination of risks in the maintenance and eventual deconstruction of the building. 

Students were also asked to consider innovative ways in which the risks could be reduced/managed when they couldn't be reasonable eliminated


A total prize fund of £6,500 is awarded to as follows:

First prize £2,000
Second prize £1,500
Third prize £1,000
Innovation award £1,000
Technical Excellence award



Finalist attend the  APS Annual Awards Dinner free of charge.
