The Role

We have a new opportunity for a Construction Health and Safety Professional based in any of our three offices, with some travel to client sites across the country, for site monitoring visits. You will provide comprehensive, professional Health and Safety Advice to our clients across the UK, in line with all current Health and Safety legislation but primarily, the CDM 2015 Regulations.

As Health and Safety Advisor, you will review contractors’ health and safety documentation and provide advice and guidance where necessary. You will prepare necessary pre-construction information, design and risk documentation and approve health and safety documentation on behalf of the client, providing authority for works to commence. You will also compile project Health and Safety Files / Building Manuals, working with principal contractors; requesting file information from client direct contractors and designers to assemble the Health and Safety File.

The Person

With over five years’ experience in a similar role, you will have a minimum NEBOSH General Certificate or a Construction Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety and ideally, IOSH membership.

In addition to an excellent working knowledge of general health and safety legislation, you will have an in depth understanding of the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 and how they apply to construction projects of all sizes.

You will have an understanding of the design process, the principles of risk reduction and be skilled in reviewing contractors’ method statements and risk assessments. You must be confident making decisions on behalf of clients, regarding the suitability of contractors’ health and safety documentation.

You will have proven written and verbal communication skills gained through experience working with designers, consultants and contractors; and the ability to remain calm and objective in all situations.

You must be enthusiastic, self-motivated and proactive with a strong can-do attitude and professional work ethic. You will be personally organised, able to work on multiple projects at any one time and comfortable working either independently or within a small team.

You will also be IT literate with a good working knowledge and experience of using Microsoft Office, including as a minimum, Outlook, Excel and Word: in addition you will have experience of working with Adobe Acrobat. You must be eligible to live and work in the UK and hold a full valid driving license.

Salary is very much dependent on experience and location, but as a guide, between £30K and £40K.
