About the webinar
This webinar will provide delegates with an overview of the main changes to the recently-published revision to BS 5975: 2019, ‘Code of practice for temporary works procedures and the permissible stress design of falsework’ (specifically, Sections 1 and 2). It will provide an overview of temporary works procedures and training (Clause 5), as well summarise some of the key points relating to procedures (Section 6 et seq).
About the speaker
David Thomas is a Chartered Civil Engineer (CEng, FICE) and a Chartered Safety and Health Practitioner (CFIOSH). Now an independent consultant at Heightsayfe Ltd, David has previously worked at the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) and was a HM Principal Specialist Inspector (Construction) with the technical lead on work at height issues. Whilst at the HSE, David commissioned a number of research projects, including ‘Retention of masonry façades: best practice guide’ (CIRIA Report C579) and ‘Investigation into aspects of falsework’ (Contract Research Report 394/2001).
With a career ranging from consulting to contracting, he now provides support and advice on work at height and construction issues; and has provided expert opinion. David is a Director of, and Company Secretary to, the Temporary Works Forum (TWf) and is Chairman of BSI’s Technical Committee, ‘Personal fall protection.’
