Temporary works - an update

David Thomas is an experienced professional and presenter on temporary works.  Through his engaging, practical talk and use of real situations, delegates will come away with:

• An up-to-date understanding of the latest information regarding temporary works, including BS 5975

• The likely implications for construction health and safety professionals

• Greater insight into managing the health and safety elements of temporary works

• An enhanced knowledge of how these should be co-ordinated with permanent work designs  

About the speaker

David is a Chartered Engineer and Chartered Safety and Health Practitioner.  He is Director of the Temporary Works Forum and Chairman of BSI's Technical Committee.  He initially worked in engineering before he moved to the HSE where he commissioned a number of reports and authored a number of publications including Friction in Temporary Works and The Use and Dismantling of Falseworks. He was Chairman of the CIRIA Steering Group as well as a project group member for CS123, Concrete Society and CS144, Concrete Society.  Latterly he was SHE Director at William Hare, a global leader in steelwork.
