APS regional elections 2018

Next week the nominations period of the APS annual regional elections opens.  Each year APS members have the opportunity to stand as a candidate for their regional committee and to vote for those candidates standing.

The process consists of two sections:

The nominations period

Opens: Wednesday 1 August

This is your chance as  to be nominated to stand as a candidate in the APS regional elections.

How to be nominated:

  • You must be a Student,  Associate, CMaPS, IMaPS, Fellow or Retired member to be nominated*.
  • You must be nominated by three other APS members
  • You must fill out the nominations form (available from Wednesday 1 August) including details of those nominating you and a 200 word statement.  You must then return it no later than Friday 24 August.

*Student and Retired members can become regional committee members but not post holders on the committee, i e Chair, Deputy Chair, Treasurer or Secretary

Once all the nominations are in, we’ll email a ballot to all APS members with the candidates standing in their region.  You can vote for more than one candidate.

A candidate must have 10 votes or more to be successfully elected onto their regional committee.

If you stood as a candidate we will write to you to tell you if you have been successful or not

The results of the election will be published toward the end of September.

What next?

Look out for the nominations form.  It will be emailed to you on Wed 1 August and available to download from this page.
